Passports are issued to Eritrean citizens with National ID and children with Eritrean parents.
Laissez-Passer can only be used for emergency travel to Eritrea (i.e. one-way travel specifically to Eritrea).
New Passport

- White background
- Centered and facing straight forward
- Hair off your face so forehead and ears fully visible
- Open eyes, closed mouth
- Natural expression (no smile, laugh or frown)
- Prescription glasses only
- Only religious hats or scarfs are allowed
- Permanent Residence Card Switzerland
- Recovery and Rehabilitation Tax Clearance
- Birth certificate (Copy)
- All fees are non-refundable
Passport Replacement
- Eritrean National ID (for anyone 18 years old or older)

- If old passport is lost – police report is required

Laissez-Passer

- Two Photos (35 x 45mm.
- White background, facing straight forward, forehead and ears fully visible, prescription glasses only and religious hats or scarfs only are allowed).
- Permanent Residence Card Switzerland.
- Old Eritrean passport (copy).
- Flight Itinerary.
- Recovery and Rehabilitation Tax Clearance.
- Police Report is required if applying for a Laissez-Passer due to lost Passport.
