General Information:

Passports are issued to Eritrean citizens with National ID and children with Eritrean parents.

Laissez-Passer can only be used for emergency travel to Eritrea (i.e. one-way travel specifically to Eritrea).


New Passport

  • Eritrean National ID (for anyone 18 years old or older)
  • 8 Photos
    • Size: 35 x 45mm
    • White background
    • Centered and facing straight forward
    • Hair off your face so forehead and ears fully visible
    • Open eyes, closed mouth
    • Natural expression (no smile, laugh or frown)
    • Prescription glasses only
    • Only religious hats or scarfs are allowed
  • Permanent Residence Card Switzerland
  • Recovery and Rehabilitation Tax Clearance
  • Birth certificate (Copy)
  • All fees are non-refundable

Passport Replacement

  • Eritrean National ID (for anyone 18 years old or older)
  • 8 Photos
    • Size: 35 x 45mm
    • White background
    • Centered and facing straight forward
    • Hair off your face so forehead and ears fully visible
    • Open eyes, closed mouth
    • Natural expression (no smile, laugh or frown)

  • Old Eritrean Passport (Copy)
  • If old passport is lost – police report is required
  • Permanent Residence Card Switzerland.
  • Recovery and Rehabilitation Tax Clearance

Laissez-Passer

  • Eritrean National ID (for anyone 18 years old or older).
  • Two Photos (35 x 45mm.
  • White background, facing straight forward, forehead and ears fully visible, prescription glasses only and religious hats or scarfs only are allowed).
  • Permanent Residence Card Switzerland.
  • Old Eritrean passport (copy).
  • Flight Itinerary.
  • Recovery and Rehabilitation Tax Clearance.
  • Police Report is required if applying for a Laissez-Passer due to lost Passport.
